December 8th 2013 – Ihtimanska‘s debut album is available HERE (direct) and HERE (CD Baby)!
After many months of hard work, and thanks in large part to Jeunes Volontaires, as well as recording help by Craig Pedersen and Joel Kerr, masterful mixing and mastering by Matt Ouimet, amazing photography by Kiran Ambwani (kiranambwani.com), and beautiful design by Avia Moore (aviamoore.com), we are really really happy to announce the release of our debut album.
We are so pleased with this CD, and our continuing quest to find our own voices within the context of traditional Bulgarian and Turkish music, while keeping the respect for the tradition. It is really a fulfilling (albeit challenging) musical experience, working in this repertoire and instrumentation, that requires lots of creativity and experimentation. We hope you will enjoy the result!
We launched the album among great friends, family and some new faces, on December 7th at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montreal, in the beautiful Salle de Recitale, and I had the pleasure of the wonderful 9 foot Steinway they have there. Thanks so much to all who came out and to those who sent messages of support.
